Speculating about the virtuosity of dance is thinking that could be based on experience, but somehow cannot be empirically checked. The goal of such speculation is to achieve a particular image of dance virtuosity through the use of anticipated changes in economy, politics and metahumanistic approaches. A characteristic feature of speculation about the virtuosity of dance is taking a risk in building radical scenarios concerning the politics of desire.

Four organizations that are key players in the field of contemporary dance in visegrad region joined forces with a well established and respected american dance curator laurie uprichard and with two dance venues to promote visegrad in united states. The presentation of four selected artists and their work in new york and new orleans will highlight visegrad as a region rich with talented artists and a hotbed of innovative european contemporary dance that is globally relevant and attractive to both professional audiences and wide public. Occasional presentations of individual artists and performances from particular v4 countries took place in the past, but a more complex platform providing a deeper insight into the visegrad dance field was missing.

V4 dance festival 2018 will introduce the work of choreographers věra ondrašíková (czech republic), lászló fullop (hungary), pawel sakowicz (poland) and stanislava vlčeková a jozef vlk (slovakia) at nyu skirball in new york and at contemporary arts center in new orleans in april 2018. Two evenings of performances in each city will be accompanied by panel discussions that would contextualize the contemporary dance in visegrad region and the productions presented.
