Old Brewery New Dance for Children 2012

Old Brewery New Dance for Children is the first cyclical project in Poland to focus on the advancement of contemporary dance theatre for children. Following the success of last year’s edition, which had a very wide audience, the programme will start again in February presenting some of the most interesting international dance theatre events for the young audience. Contemporary dance is an excellent way to communicate with children of all ages; therefore, the programme this year includes proposals for infants, older children and preteens, in addition to the adult audience, i.e. parents, teachers and all dance aficionados, who will be provided with an opportunity to take active part in our project. We will be watching, playing with and learning dance brought to us by some of the best teachers and choreographers in the world, whom we have invited to conduct various creative activities for our audience.

The “all dancing” and most captivating winter break in town begins in February. This year our project will start on a magical note with the presentation of one of the most unique dance theatre shows for children ever. “Wonderland” is an open performance which the audience creates together with the artists: choreographers, dancers, musicians and lighting operators. This dreamlike project from the Netherlands will be accompanied with an activity workshop for children aged from 3 to 6 years and their parents. The winter break also features a proposal for older children, the Young Dance Academy with Mamadou M'Baye and Nadja Puttner who rank among the best choreographers and teachers in the world. They will also hold Open Classes for dancers and all other adults who wish to develop their movement expression.

The events prepared for the winter break are open to children and their parents, in addition to teachers and artists who are interested in the creating of choreographies for the youngest addressees, as well as theatre and dance reviewers who wish to take a closer look at this very special project.
